My site is built using a well known site builder called WordPress. I received this message from them:- ‘WordPress has a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email. In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, WooCommerce PayPal Payments.‘ This happened just after the latest update from WooCommerce.
PayPal added back
The bug may have been fixed – we shall see…

Now back in the workshop and am currently making a few Professor McGonagall wands this week and some Hermione Granger wands next week. Then a Ron Weasley wand and a few more over the next few weeks. Videos of me making some wands will be added soon.
PayPal bugs
Sadly I have had to remove PayPal as a payment option. The reason for this is that there is a bug in PayPal which allows scammers to flood my inbox with so-called ‘failed orders’. There is much discussion all over the web about this but PayPal are not commenting. This morning I had 70 failed orders for Mice 001! This took an hour or two to sort out ;-( As a result of the ongoing issues with PayPal, I am compelled to discontinue its use as a payment method. The persistent bug has been exploited by scammers, resulting in an influx of fraudulent ‘failed orders’ that disrupt business operations. Despite widespread conversation regarding this matter online, PayPal has yet to […]

Making Nymphadora Tonks wand (click to see photos)
Nymphadora Tonk’s wand is probably the most difficult one I have made so far, so I am making two of them! It is mainly hand carved with the band saw used to cut the basic rough shape to start hand carving. Here is a photo of the early stages of carving, 2 hours work so far… The wand at the top is a plastic one I found cheap on eBay which makes the job of carving wooden ones easier. One is Ash and the other Scots pine This after another 45 minutes of hand carving – slowly getting there 😉 Another hour or so and the nearest wand is getting close and the other one is about 30 minutes behind. […]
Wand update (click to see photos)
I sold Neville Longbottom’s wand and the Elder Wand at my recent craft fair ‘The Bish Bash Bosh’ and have started their replacements. I had some genuine Elder wood (see photo) to make a proper Elder Wand. This is the Elder branch just before being shaped on the lathe, but I soon discovered that the wood was difficult to hold accurately in the lathe after I had finished roughing it down. I am trying to use a different method to hold it using a chuck. I do have some lovely Scots Pine which I could use instead. Sadly, elder is hard to find ;-( I managed to sort out how to hold it accurately and this is the wand in […]
Chopping boards update
I have four new solid oak chopping boards in progress. They should be ready in a week or two. Then I will be making some more apples and pears.
Workshop update
I am currently making Ron Weasley’s 2nd wand and then moving on to turn a few more mice on my lathe. They should be available for sale at my village’s summer fair called ‘Bish-Bash-Bosh’ on June 21st.
