Making Nymphadora Tonks wand (click to see photos)

Nymphadora Tonk’s wand is probably the most difficult one I have made so far, so I am making two of them! It is mainly hand carved with the band saw used to cut the basic rough shape to start hand carving.

Here is a photo of the early stages of carving, 2 hours work so far…

The wand at the top is a plastic one I found cheap on eBay which makes the job of carving wooden ones easier.

One is Ash and the other Scots pine

This after another 45 minutes of hand carving – slowly getting there 😉

Another hour or so and the nearest wand is getting close and the other one is about 30 minutes behind.

One more hour or so to go …

Here they are finished. Golden Oak stain with matt finish and very gently rubbed down with wire wool.
