Nymphadora Tonks’ wand 004

£60.00

Lathe turned then hand carved, sanding sealed, stained, waxed and polished. Weight: 38 g Dimensions: 38.5 x 4.2 x 3.5 (cm)

This wand is made from Yew wood, partly lathe turned, hand carved and then gently stained with Red Mahogany wood stain to look like the original model made – see picture with black background. Then sanding sealer was applied with a little bees wax to follow.

Tonks’s wand is uniquely designed to reflect her nature as a Metamorphmagus meaning she possessed the rare, innate ability to change her appearance at will. A dedicated member of the Order of the Phoenix, she served as an Auror for the Ministry of Magic under the mentorship of Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody.

Wand Design: It is shaped like a jack-in-the-pulpit flower (Arisaema genus). This flower is known for “sequential hermaphroditism,” or the ability to change sexes, mirroring Tonks’s own metamorphic abilities.
Materials: In the films, the prop was crafted from two different woods. While initial speculation suggested snakewood, the production eventually chose leopard wood to represent her character.
Handling: Natalia Tena discovered a specific “nook” in the wand’s design during the filming of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, which finally allowed her to hold it comfortably.

So, Tonks’s style is that she is very good, but she just can’t help getting it wrong.” As a member of the Order of the Phoenix, Tonks fought bravely against Voldemort’s Death Eaters in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and again in the Battle of Hogwarts in the final film, which, sadly, led to her death. Tonks’s wand is carved of two different woods, with a striped shaft that opens into a jack-in-the-pulpit flower. Tena confesses it wasn’t until filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 that she learned how to truly hold her wand upon discovering “a little nook to work with!”
It has been speculated that this wand resembles a pitcher plant. Its prop description at Harry Potter: The Exhibition confirms that it is specifically designed to resemble flowers of the Arisaema genus, known colloquially as jack-in-the-pulpit. These flowers are known for their ability to perform sequential hermaphroditism (the ability to change sexes). Additionally, a preparation of the root of the Arisaema triphyllum species was used by Native Americans to treat snakebites;
